
South Bay
Manhattan Beach.
Manhattan Beach is nestled with El Segundo to the North, Hermosa Beach to the South, and the Pacific Ocean to the West. This South Bay community is laid back and really popular with community events and families. Admire beautiful modern mansions whilst riding a bike on The Strand. The heartbeat of Manhattan Beach can be found in the city’s downtown, where you can indulge in a treat or two at the local restaurants, bars, and cafes.
Hermosa Beach.
Hermosa means “beautiful” in Spanish and this beachfront city embraces just that. The community and locals from neighboring cities enjoy to spend their time outdoor, like sunbathing, playing beach volleyball, surfing, paddle boarding, and cycling. Fun Fact: A couple scenes from La La Land were filmed here; visit the Hermosa Beach Pier and the Lighthouse Cafe.
Redondo Beach.
Redondo Beach is South Bay’s carefree beach town. It’s atmosphere and environment are very outdoor oriented. You can visit the Redondo Beach Pier where you can grab a bite to eat, board a ship, and have fun with friends. Popular shopping areas include South Bay Galleria and Riviera Village. If a private beach is more your thing, go to Torrance State Beach. It’s less crowded.
Palos Verdes.
Palos Verdes Peninsula houses a number of affluent cities; Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills and Rolling Hills Estates. This area is known for its dramatic, picturesque ocean and nature views. As for education, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, has one of the highest API scores in California and one of the highest average SAT scores in the county. You can enjoy a lot of activities like hiking, biking, visiting a ship wreck or two and admire the Point Vicente Lighthouse.
Torrance.
Torrance is a beachside neighborhood with Old Town charm and Japanese culture emphasis. It has the second highest percentage of residents of Japanese ancestry in California. City centers like Del Amo Fashion Center and historic downtown build a unique community environment. Have fun in the sun at the Madrona Marsh, Columbia Park, and RAT beach (the unofficial name for the strand at Torrance County Beach).
Gardena.
Located in South Bay, CA, Gardena is made up of three neighborhoods; Hermosillo, Moneta, and Strawberry Park. You can enjoy a nice suburban environment here at bowling alleys, parks, casinos, and golf courses.
Inglewood.
Inglewood is southwestern city in Los Angeles County. Notable spots like The Forum and SoFi Stadium (home of the LA Rams and LA Chargers) are located here. Make a stop in the morning and visit the birthplace of Randy’s Donuts; one of LA’s favorites donut shops! The neighborhoods that make up this city are Morningside Park, Downtown Inglewood, Fairview Heights, Arbor Village, Hollypark Knolls, Centinela Heights, Sports Village, Century Heights, Inglewood Knolls, and Lockhaven.
Hawthorne.
This South Bay city has a population size of ~ 88,000 residents. Notable people like each original member of the Beach Boys and Tyler, the Creator grew up in Hawthorne. The city possesses a shared vision towards the future to create a great place to live and build an economy which supports the community's desire for a high quality of life.
Lawndale.
Lawndale is bordered by Redondo Beach to the West, Hawthorne to the North, and Torrance to the Southeast. You can find modest homes with a nice patch of green grass in all parts of town. The history of this area is rich in farm land. The Pacific Ocean is no more than 5 miles to the West and Lawndale is the place to find the best affordable homes in the South Bay.
Westchester.
In Westchester, you can find locations like the Los Angeles International Airport, Loyola Marymount University and Otis College of Art and Design. This westside city is surrounded with Playa Vista and Culver City to the North, Inglewood and Lennox to the East and El Segundo to the South. Outdoors areas like the Westchester Recreation Center and Tennis Courts are a community favorite. Visit Pann’s restaurant at 6710 Tijera blvd. to enjoy one of “the best preserved example” of Googie-style architecture. The 1960’s rock band, The Turtles once called this city home.
El Segundo.
This beachside city is quickly earning a reputation of embracing a charming, diverse community of people and businesses. El Segundo has beautiful neighborhoods, a thriving downtown, and easy transportation (a necessity when living in LA County). Enjoy a day or night out at The Point, Smoky Hollow district, and Plaza El Segundo. Fun fact: The El Segundo Parks and Rec staff are the basis for the popular TV show, Parks and Recreation.
Lennox.
Lennox is nestled next to the 405 and 105 freeway. It also sits alongside the Los Angeles International Airport.
